Making a stand

Making a stand was the call to action to people across Wales to make a stand against domestic abuse, sexual violence and violence against women.

To coincide with the introduction of the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Bill in June 2014, the Welsh Government launched the ‘Making A Stand’ campaign to encourage people to openly declare their intolerance of abuse.

The campaign aimed to challenge people to think about their personal stance on tackling violence against women, domestic abuse or sexual violence and raising awareness of how they can deal with the situation if they are concerned, as well the support services available to victims.

The campaign ran from June – September 2014, and featured 3 separate poster designs, adverts, and billboards, depicting a number of figures linking arms and ‘making a stand’.

People were encouraged to take pictures of themselves linking arms, and post them to the campaign pages on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #makingastandwales.
